Tips To Help Protect Your Ears

Take breaks from headphones or earbuds and keep the volume at an appropriate level.

  • To clean your ears with over-the-counter drops, tilt your head and place a few drops in the ear with the blockage. Wait a few seconds before draining or rinsing your ear

  • Limit exposure to loud noises. Wear protective headgear if you are in a noisy area

  • Don’t ignore ringing in your ears or balance issues or changes in your hearing. Contact a GP or Audiologist

  • Dry your ears after swimming to prevent outer ear infections. Use a cloth to dry your ears and tilt your head to remove any water

  • If travelling on an aeroplane, try to yawn and swallow often when the plane lands to help reduce the pressure in your ears
